Cultural Events
The Italian Embassy in Bangkok promotes the Italian culture and language and the development of cultural relations between Italy, and Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, and a better knowledge of Italy.
The program of cultural events organized by the Embassy – also thanks to the support of private sponsors – is called “Italian Festival in Thailand” and lasts the entire year. The aim is to offer to the local public, including Italian nationals, a broad and varied panorama of the Italian cultural offer, both traditional and contemporary. Events range from classical music to jazz, from dance to theatre, from cinema to photography, design and architecture, science and Italian cuisine. We favour initiatives that involve collaboration with local entities in the cultural and artistic, academic, scientific and business fields, and which are likely to give rise to developments beyond the event itself.
The events can be followed on this site and on the facebook page of the Italian Embassy in Bangkok. Entrance is normally free of charge with prior booking.
Italian artists interested in proposing their events in Thailand may send an e-mail to ufficioculturale.bangkok@esteri.it with a brief description, cachet/budget and other information.
Italian Language
The Embassy does not organize Italian language courses. Courses are organized by private centers.
Also thanks to contributions from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italian is taught in the Department of Italian Studies at Chulalongkorn University, as well as at Silpakorn University. Two Thai schools, one primary and one secondary, have recently started courses for their students to learn Italian.
Studies
The Cultural Office of the Embassy also provides information and advice on enrolment in schools and universities in Italy and issues the necessary declarations of value for qualifications obtained at schools and universities in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. Those interested can obtain the equivalence of their primary and secondary qualifications with similar Italian qualifications, enrolment in Italian schools and universities, recognition of their university studies in Italy and the assignment of scholarships.
