MOVIEMOV ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL IN BANGKOK

Moviemov Italian Film Festival returns to Bangkok from February 27th to March 1st, 2024 at House Samyan (Samyan Mitrtown).

The Festival – organized in collaboration with the Cultural Association Playtown Roma and the Italian-Thai Chamber of Commerce, and with the support of the General Directorate for Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and the Italian Trade Agency – will present contemporary Italian movies and a retrospective on the work of film director Ferzan Ozpetek.

On the opening evening there will be the screening of “There is Still Tomorrow” (2023) by Paola Cortellesi, a feminist comedy-drama taking place in post-war Rome, which was the highest-grossing film at the Italian box office in 2023 and ranking 5th in the history of Italian cinema.

The other movies that will be screened at House Samyan are: “The Last Night of Amore” (by Andrea Di Stefano, 2023), “Comandante” (by Edoardo De Angelis, 2023), “Ghiaccio” (by Fabrizio Moro and Alessio De Leonardis, 2023), “Me, Captain” (by Matteo Garrone, 2023), which is among the nominees for this year’s Oscar for best international film, “Mia” (by Ivano De Matteo, 2023), Mixed by Erry (by Sydney Sibilia, 2023).

The tribute to Ferzan Ozpetek, who will be among the guests of honor in Bangkok, includes the screening of the restored copy of “The Turkish Bath – Hamam” (1997) as its international preview after the presentation in Rome on February 12th, “Ignorant Fairies” (2001) and “Loose Cannons” (2010). The director will introduce the films and discuss with the spectators.

The actors Vinicio Marchioni, Milena Mancini and Paola Minaccioni, protagonists of some of the films that will be presented in Bangkok, will also participate in the Festival.

The entrance is free of charge and (tickets can be collected one hour before the screenings at the cinema). All the movies are subtitled in English and Thai.
