Bangkok, November 10, 2023 – The eighth edition of the Italian Cuisine Week, organized by the Italian Embassy in Bangkok together with the Italian Trade Commission and the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce, will be launched in Thailand on Saturday, November 11.
This year’s theme, “At the Table with Italian Cuisine: Health with Taste,” focuses on healthy lifestyles, the quality of Italian products, and their effect on the well-being of individuals. To celebrate the conviviality typical of Italian tradition, the Italian Embassy in Bangkok has planned a number of events in Bangkok and Phnom Penh.
The first event, which will take place on November 11, will be a soccer match between the team of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that of foreign Ambassadors in Bangkok, to convey the importance of the values of teamwork, physical activity, and a varied diet. At the end of the match, Ambassador Paolo Dionisi will award the winning team the “Italian Cuisine Week Cup – Italian Embassy in Bangkok” and healthy Mediterranean dishes will be served, prepared by Italian restaurants in Bangkok.
In the following days, the award-winning Italian Chef Enrico Derflingher will be in Bangkok to prepare a special menu with four hands at Nusara restaurant – the third best restaurant in Asia – with starred Chef Thitid ‘Ton’ Tassanakajohn. The dinner will be an opportunity for the highest expressions of the culinary cultures of Italy and Thailand to meet. Derflingher will also hold a masterclass at Alma-The Food School and participate in local TV shows, with nutritionists and Thai food and health experts.
Other events are planned, such as a ‘Wine Dinner’ at Alma-The Food School, a gourmet dinner in collaboration with The Mall Group, and the “Buon Appetito” course on Roman cuisine at Chulalongkorn University. Finally, for the entire week, Bangkok’s certified ‘Italian Hospitality’ restaurants will prepare a special menu inspired by the theme ‘food and health’.
The Cuisine Week will continue from November 20 to 26 in Cambodia. Sommelier Falan will hold a masterclass on Italian wine for industry professionals and wine-lovers to promote Italian wine culture and business ties. Leading Italian restaurants in Phnom Penh will also prepare special menus inspired to the relation between food and health for the Week.
