On March 9th we celebrate all over the world the 7th edition of the Italian Design Day and the theme this year will be “The Quality that Illuminates. The Energy of Design for People and the Environment”. The Embassy of Italy in Bangkok – together with the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) – has organized several events, which will take place from the 7th to the 17th of March.
On March 7th the inauguration of the exhibition “ITALIA GENIALE” will be held at ICONSIAM, curated by the Association for Industrial Design (ADI), which was previously displayed in Rome and at the Italian pavilion at EXPO Dubai 2020, and which starts its Asian tour in Bangkok. Italia Geniale brings together a selection of iconic objects of Italian design and it is a tribute to the creativity and work of Italian companies.
During the opening ceremony, there will be an award ceremony for the winner of the competition organized by the Embassy in collaboration with Silpakorn University, who designed the commemorative logo for the 155th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Thailand.
On March 8th, Central World will host “Dolce Vita”, a fashion show in which the latest trends in Italian fashion will be on display. The event is part of the “Dolce Vita” campaign, which follows the agreement between ICE and the Central Department Store (CDS) to promote until the 30th of April 47 Italian companies operating in the fashion and lifestyle industries.
On March 9th, there will be the inauguration of an exhibition of lighting objects and furniture from the leading Italian brands in the sector, products characterized by quality, innovation, functionality and energy saving. The event is possible thanks to the collaboration with the main importers of Italian brands in Thailand (Euro Creations, Lamptitude, Motif and Supremo).
Later on, the Architect Alexander Maria Bellman (C14 srl Group), Testimonial of Italian design and specialized in the lighting sector, will hold the masterclass “Lighting as Instrument of Design” at Central Embassy, which will be open to students and experts in the sector.
Cambodia will also host an event on March 9th to celebrate the Italian Design Day: “The quality that illuminates. The Energy of Design for People and the Environment” organized by the Italian-Cambodian Business Association (ICBA) at Vespa Cambodia, Phnom Penh, with the online participation of Arch. Bellman.
Finally, in collaboration with the Embassy in Yangon, a Burmese delegation made up of representatives of the design sector will participate at the Italian Design Day in Bangkok.
