In 2026, elections will be held for the renewal of the Committees of Italians Abroad (Com.It.Es.).
The Com.It.Es. are bodies that represent Italian nationals living abroad in their relations with Embassies and Consulates and support their integration. They are also tasked with preserving the historical memory of Italian emigration and enhancing the value of the Italian contribution within the societies in which they operate.
They may be established in consular districts with more than 3,000 AIRE-registered residents and are composed of 12 members in communities of up to 100,000 Italian nationals, and 18 members in communities exceeding that threshold. Committee members serve a five-year term.
Voting in the elections takes place by postal ballot and is open to Italian nationals who have resided for at least six months in the relevant consular district.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterates the importance of participating in the vote, an essential opportunity to strengthen the representation of the many Italian communities abroad. The Committees serve as a constant point of reference for Italian nationals, voicing their needs and promoting their interests in their respective territories.
The Farnesina therefore invites all Italian citizens residing abroad to actively participate in this important democratic event, thereby helping to support and enhance the value of their Italian community of reference.
