Celebration of the World Italian Pizza Day in Thailand (January 17, 2023)

The World Italian Pizza Day was celebrated on January 17th in Thailand, on the occasion of the anniversary of Sant’Antonio Abate, patron saint of pizza makers and bakers. The event – organized with the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian-Thai Chamber of Commerce and with the patronage of Alma-The Food School and the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana – aimed to draw the attention of the Thai public back to the origin and uniqueness of Italian pizza, on its nutritional benefits and on Italian culinary culture, and it was also a tribute to Italian pizza makers in Thailand.

At Alma-The Food School – the School of Italian Culinary Arts created by Gualtiero Marchesi and the Chamber of Commerce of Parma, which opened the first international headquarters in Bangkok – a ‘pizza cooking lesson’ took place with celebrities, press and Thai influencers. Furthermore, the Italian pizzerias Peppina and Massilia – respectively 42nd and 44th among the 50 best Italian pizzerias in the world – offered gourmet pizzas to the Thai public, thanks also to the support of the main importers and distributors of Italian products in Thailand (including Lucilla Co., Ltd., Pacific Beer & Beverage Co., Ltd., Italasia Trading (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and East West Trading & Agencies Co., Ltd.).

The Governor of Bangkok Chadchart Sittipunt, the President of the Italian Unioncamere Andrea Prete and the President of ALMA School Enzo Malanca attended the event, which was also streamed live within the world marathon of real Italian pizza organized by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana.
