NEW PROVISIONS FOR ENTRY INTO ITALY FROM ABROAD

The Order of the Ministry of Health of 22 February 2022, effective from 1 to 31 March 2022, allows unrestricted entry into Italy, provided the following conditions are met:

a) Presentation to the carrier of the digital Passenger Locator Form (https://app.euplf.eu/#/) either in the printed or electronic version.

b) Presentation to the carrier of one of the COVID-19 green certifications (certificate of vaccination, certificate of recovery or negative molecular or antigenic test) or other certification recognized as equivalent by the Italian Ministry of Health. In case of uncertainty about the validity of one’s certification, it is recommended to contact the ASL (local health agency) of one’s competence. The above certifications may be presented in digital or paper format. If a test is taken, the molecular swab must be carried out within 72 hours prior to arrival in Italy, while the antigenic test must be carried out within 24 hours prior to arrival in Italy.

In case of failure to submit one of the certifications referred to in paragraph b), the measure of quarantine is applied at the address indicated in the digital Passenger Locator Form, for a period of five days, with the obligation to undergo a molecular or antigenic swab test at the end of this period.

Travel to and from the Republic of San Marino and the Vatican City State is not subject to restrictions or reporting requirements. Children under 6 years of age are exempt from the swab requirement. Further exemptions are indicated in the Order, the full text of which is available here.

It is recommended to check directly with the airline if it has additional requirements for travel.
