Economic diplomacy

The value of trade between Italy and Thailand in 2024 reached the figure of around €3.94 billion, with Italian exports to Thailand amounting to €1.95 billion, placing Italy in third place among EU countries (and 25th overall).

In the first four months of 2025, Italian exports to Thailand stood at around €606 million, marking a slight decrease compared with the same period in 2024.

Italy’s main exports to Thailand include machinery and equipment, chemical and pharmaceutical products, leather goods, metallurgical products, transport equipment (in particular motorcycles and components), furniture and homeware, and food and beverages.

The Italian presence in Thailand is also bolstered by foreign direct investment, with an estimated stock of around €600 million, mainly in the mechanical, energy, fashion, furniture, and agri-food sectors.

The Embassy also promotes the strengthening of bilateral economic relations through institutional missions, promotional events, participation in trade fairs, and joint initiatives with ITA – Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and the Thai–Italian Chamber of Commerce, as well as through the annual Business Forum designed to foster direct dialogue between entrepreneurs from both countries.

The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Italy in Bangkok assists Italian companies operating in Thailand or interested in this market, providing institutional support, first-line information and facilitation of contacts with local counterparts.
